Walmart’s Next Venture: Making Its Own Tablets
Walmart has submitted a product application to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to start making its own tablets. The application included photos and details about the device, which will be made by a Chinese supplier, will run on Google’s Android operating system, and will be sold under Walmart’s ONN brand. There is no info yet on how much the tablet will cost or when it will hit the market.
The retailer has been making moves into the tech industry, as it focuses on home goods and electronics moving forward. Walmart has nonetheless struggled to develop its image as a more “modern” company, while its biggest competitor Amazon has been an innovative force with its own electronics.
