Walmart’s Flipkart Launches Video Streaming Service to Compete with Amazon’s
Flipkart is launching a video streaming service to compete against Amazon’s, which launched in India in 2016, as well as Netflix and Disney’s Hotstar.
The Walmart-owned company is making its service available through its mobile shopping app, a clear sign that Flipkart hopes to convert viewers into shoppers. There will be no extra fee to access the content, something that Flipkart claims differentiates its service from anything else available.
“Most consumers’ first touch point with the internet is through online video content, and statistics suggest that video content and entertainment play a key role in bridging the gap for consumers to come online and experience e-commerce,” Flipkart said.
