Walmart Will Stop Selling Some Types of Ammunition, Asks Customers Not to Open Carry
In the wake of two store shootings that left 24 people dead, Walmart will stop selling certain types of ammunition that can be used in assault weapons. The retailer will also stop selling handguns in Alaska, the last state whose Walmart stores carry them. Furthermore, Walmart is asking its customers not to open carry, and formulating policy for those who do so anyway. Its policy on customers with concealed carry permits is not changing.
Chief Executive Officer Doug McMillon said in a statement to employees Tuesday that the company was now willing to impose on its customers in the name of public safety.
