Walmart to Test Driverless Car Deliveries with Udelv
Walmart is expanding its test of using driverless cars to deliver its online grocery orders to shoppers’ homes. The retailer has initiated a pilot program with startup Udelv, which will supply autonomous-driving vans to customers in Surprise, Arizona. The new partnership joins ones with previous driverless car companies, including Ford and Waymo.
“We want to make sure we stay on the cutting edge of grocery delivery by exploring what’s new and next,” Tom Ward, senior vice president of Walmart’s digital operations in the U.S., said Tuesday in a blog post.
