Walmart to Pilot Healthcare Programs for U.S. Associates
Starting January 1, Walmart will pilot and expand several programs scattered across the U.S., each aimed at reducing costs related to healthcare for both Walmart and its associates. In one program, Walmart will work to connect associates with local doctors, simplifying the search for a healthcare provider. In another, Walmart will test a concierge service. But Walmart’s healthcare ambitions don’t stop with its associates. The retailer has been expanding its presence in the health and wellness market, most recently with the launch of a standalone healthcare clinic in Georgia.
Walmart Inc said on Thursday it will begin several healthcare pilot programs for its U.S. employees starting Jan. 1 as it looks for ways to cut healthcare costs – one of the largest expenses for the retailer after wages.
