Walmart Launches Pilot Delivery Program with Udelv Autonomous Cars

Walmart has partnered with Udelv to launch a pilot program of driverless cars. The autonomous vehicles will deliver orders for the retailer. Udelv has previously worked with Waymo and Ford to develop the autonomous vehicles. The pilot program will be held in Surprise, Arizona. Walmart plans to open online grocery delivery services in 100 markets this year. Walmart’s decision to expand its services come as more consumers turn to online delivery services or a pickup option.

“We want to make sure we stay on the cutting edge of grocery delivery by exploring what’s new and next,” Tom Ward, senior vice president of Walmart’s digital operations in the U.S., said Tuesday in a blog post.
