Walmart Initiates Hiring Spree to Cope with Coronavirus Crisis
Walmart is hiring 150,000 hourly workers to help meet the rise in demand sparked by the coronavirus outbreak. These workers will fill positions in stores, clubs, and fulfillment centers. Many of the new jobs are here to stay, according to Walmart. In addition, the retailer is giving a $300 cash bonus to full-time hourly associates, as well as a $150 cash bonus to part-time associates.
Rival Amazon.com Inc made a similar move earlier this week, announcing it would hire 100,000 warehouse and delivery workers in the United States as the virus outbreak boosts online orders.
