Walmart Discontinues Jet Fresh-Food Delivery in New York City
Just over a year after its launch, Walmart is discontinuing its Jet fresh-food delivery service in New York City. Walmart is chalking the experiment up to a learning experience. Bloomberg reported that Jet had a hard time keeping products stocked and prices low. While the fresh-food delivery service is going away, along with the Jet warehouse in the Bronx and a couple hundred jobs, Jet will still offer delivery of dry grocery and general merchandise items.
“We learned a lot by testing Jet fresh grocery delivery in New York City, and we recognized the important role our stores play in providing an efficient way to offer groceries to customers through pickup and delivery,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement to Business Insider. “We will focus our grocery pickup and delivery in markets where we have this incredible opportunity.”
