Walmart Creates Emergency Leave Policy in Response to Coronavirus
Walmart is giving its 1.4 million hourly U.S. employees the option to skip work if they are worried about catching the coronavirus. Those who take this step will do so “without penalty.” Furthermore, Walmart is offering two weeks of pay for any workers who are required to be quarantined and for workers with confirmed cases of the virus. In the latter case, if the two weeks are not sufficient for a total recovery, the paid time off may be extended.
Walmart’s senior vice president of US benefits, Adam Stavisky, told The Associated Press that a revised policy was required during these “unprecedented and uncharted times.”
