US Senators Want a “Sweeping Internal Investigation” from Amazon
In response to a Wall Street Journal story reporting that Amazon has thousands of unsafe products listed on its site, three US senators sent a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, urging him to initiate a “sweeping internal investigation” into the problem. The report from The Wall Street Journal highlights the difficulty of effectively policing a massive marketplace, and it adds to the scrutiny Amazon is already receiving.
“Unquestionably, Amazon is falling short of its commitment to keeping safe those consumers who use its massive platform,” the letter said. The letter was signed by US Sens. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Edward Markey of Massachusetts.
