The Number of Retailers Who Have Closed All Stores Is 110 and Climbing

Retailers who sell household essentials and groceries are seeing record revenue and increased stock prices. On the other hand, retailers who sell apparel, footwear, general merchandise, and other non-essential products are closing down stores, sometimes all of them, in the face of falling foot traffic. Indeed, the number of retailers who have closed all their stores stands at more than 110. Most of these businesses are relying on their online platforms to continue to sell products.

As more stores shut their doors, it seems conceivable that all of non-essential retailing could be closed within a few days. It may not come from a government mandate, but with store traffic virtually non-existent, it will most likely become a de facto reality.
