The Jasper Wool Eco Chukka Is Good for the Planet and Feels Good to Wear
As consumers become more environmentally conscious, they are beginning to demand that their favorite brands do more for the planet. United By Blue has heard the call and answered.
The Jasper Wool Eco Chukka is a shoe with so many sustainable features it is almost mind-boggling. The creators searched high and low for the most eco-friendly of materials to craft a shoe that is at once good for the planet and feels good to wear. Furthermore, United By Blue promises that for every pair of the shoes it sells, it will remove one pound of trash from the oceans or waterways.
The materials include recycled cork, which is carbon-negative, meaning that the cork trees from which it is taken aren’t cut down. The harvesting process actually extends their lifespan and increases the amount of CO2 they consume. Bison hair, usually discarded, is used as insulation. Algae foam, natural rice rubber, merino wool from Australia, and bamboo round out the materials list.
With a list like that, you can feel good about wearing the Jasper Wool Eco Chukka – but it also feels good to wear. It is lightweight and temperature-regulating for comfortable on the go all day wear. It is odor-eliminating and antimicrobial. It is packable and durable.
And it has a cousin. The Jasper Wool Eco Slip-on is the Jasper Wool Eco Chukka minus the laces. Both types come in three colors: black, dark grey, and beige. They have a gender-neutral design and come in men’s sizes seven to fourteen and women’s sizes five to eleven.
