Small Retailers Are Caught in the Middle of Walmart/Amazon War

The war between megaretailers Walmart and Amazon continues to heat up, but the effects aren’t being felt as much in those companies as they are in those around them, according to Moody’s analysts. One of the biggest fronts in the war is shipping, where Walmart’s presence in so many places can give it the advantage, while Amazon’s strength is its relationship with third-party retailers.

While the titans of retail face off, life for everybody else risks getting more difficult. Retailers with shakier finances “have ever-diminishing control over their destiny,” the Moody’s team wrote.
