Shoppers Spent $7.4 Billion Online on Black Friday
With six fewer days than last year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, holiday shoppers won’t exactly be shopping less – just for less time. The December lull between Black Friday and Cyber Monday and the rest of the holiday shopping season will likely disappear.
In the words of Target CEO Brian Cornell, “Every day is going to count.”
Still, it is safe to say that Black Friday and Cyber Monday are going to count most. This year’s Black Friday brought in a record $7.4 billion in online sales. Mobile sales are on the rise, with more consumers shopping deals from their smartphones.
“We’ve got a shorter holiday selling season,” Jason Woosley, Adobe’s vice president of commerce product and platform, told CNN Business earlier this week. “That’s creating a compression effect.”
