Sam’s Club Reintroduces Retail Space to Fulfillment Center
After closing a store in Tampa, Florida in order to convert it into an e-commerce fulfillment center, Sam’s Club is reopening a portion of the store to offer 2,000 popular products for sale. Customers have to use the Scan & Go App to purchase goods, as there are no checkout stands. Sam’s says the small-scale reopening is an experiment.
Customers interviewed by local media expressed confusion and disappointment at the new store’s limited selection and no-frills presentation. Bill Ball, Sam’s Club’s senior director of e-commerce supply chain, told a local Fox affiliate the store is a test for the company.
