Payless Plans Its Comeback

Payless has emerged from bankruptcy for the second time with plans to recapture market share, achieve growth in the U.S., and reopen stores. Though there is no word yet on how many stores the discount footwear chain might open in the U.S., a staggering 2,100 Payless stores closed last year. Overseas, however, franchisees still operate around 700 stores.

…Payless execs declined to say how many stores it might open in the US, where it once operated as many as 2,500 stores.
