Nestle Reaches 77 Percent of Its Deforestation Goal

Nestle continues to move forward with a personal goal. The international company wants to reach zero percent deforestation within its agricultural supply chain. So far, Nestle is at 77 percent. Nestle hopes to reach 100 percent by 2020. Nestle has asked other companies to adapt similar technologies to reduce deforestation. Nestle uses satellites to identify which areas around the world are at risk. Advocates hope this technology can be used to not only to help reduce deforestation, but to raise awareness about the environmental impact as well.

By making its supply chain an open book, Nestlé is generating a competitive advantage both with investors and customers.
