JCPenney Begins Closing Sales at 136 Locations
JCPenney is one of the major retailers to file for bankruptcy in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. It has vowed to stay in business, but with a reduced store fleet.
This week, 136 JCPenney stores will begin closing sales. However, it is uncertain how much of a boost the ailing retailer will get from these sales, since the pandemic is far from over and customers may still be reluctant to visit a physical store for discretionary products.
JCPenney is the largest national retailer to file for bankruptcy in the wake of the pandemic, along with J.Crew and Neiman Marcus.
