Instacart Changes Tipping Policy After Social Media Firestorm

Instacart has updated its tipping policy following outrage from both customers and employees online. The delivery service faced severe criticism after employees came forward with information showing that they do not receive tips from customers. Instacart employees said tips went towards their hourly wage rather than supplementing their income. In a statement, Instacart apologized and offered to pay tips separately from wages. Instacart will also offer backpay to impacted employees.

“It makes me wonder how many other services are doing the same thing.”
