Instacart and Whole Foods Have Officially Parted Ways

It’s official: Instacart and Whole Foods have parted ways. Whole Foods was one of Instacart’s first partners, but the break up has long been expected in the wake of Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods in 2017. Instacart has now partnered with grocery chains across the country, and Whole Foods has increased its grocery delivery services in several markets.

As Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods threatened to disrupt the entire grocery industry, American grocers increasingly looked for ways to boost their e-commerce offerings. Many turned to Instacart.
