In-Home Styling Services Have Been Successful for Retail

apparelPersonal and in-store styling services have already caught on with retailers such as Macy’s and Stitch Fix, but now at-home styling is taking hold.

Nordstrom offers such a service, where a stylist visits a customer’s home with a rack full of clothing. A quick session is $50, or a full closet edit can cost $400. In that case, stylists help select which clothes to discard and which to purchase.

“In-home is the next big channel,” said Kathy Fisher, vp of customer experience at Nordstrom. “We have learned a ton about how popular this is in New York City, where many people’s closets are the size of a microwave. A full closet refresh is really powerful.”
