General Mills Invests More Than $14 Million in Food Safety

General Mills invested $14.4 million in food safety in 2018. Those numbers are down from $15.2 million in 2017 and $16 million in 2016. An executive for General Mills says the company practices safe standards while collaborating with other companies to improve general food safety standards. General Mills hopes to earn a Global Food Safety Initiative certification for all General Mills-owned facilities by 2020. More than half of General Mills’ ingredient supplier sites are already GFSI-certified.

To help ensure the safety of the raw materials the company uses in its products, General Mills has expanded the number of supplier and co-producer audits it conducts globally.
