Coca-Cola Launches Canned Costa Coffee in the U.K.
Costa Coffee has launched a line of canned, ready-to-drink coffees in the U.K. It’s the first product from the international coffee chain since Coca-Cola purchased the company. The cans are scheduled to be released in Poland and China later this summer.
Several big brands have moved into the growing coffee industry, releasing premium blends and brews. Nestle purchased Starbucks’ retail division last year for $7.15 billion. While Coke will have plenty of competition, it also has a few advantages up its sleeve.
By choosing to enter the ready-to-drink category, Coca-Cola is combining its enormous global distribution system with the growing popularity of on-the-go gourmet coffee.
