Amazon Plans to End Restaurant Delivery Services in the U.S.

Amazon has announced plans to end its restaurant delivery service in the US later this month. The online retailer closed this service in the UK last year. Amazon is also closing its workplace lunch delivery service Daily Dish this week. According to an Amazon spokesperson, many employees impacted by the decision have been given new positions at Amazon. Despite ending its own services, Amazon has recently invested in Deliveroo, a food delivery service and rival of UberEats.

Amazon might have decided to back other major players in the business instead of playing a more active role, though whether the company will invest in other food delivery companies remains to be seen.
