Amazon Hands Out Bonuses to Front-Line Workers
Amazon is handing out bonuses to show its appreciation for its front-line workers who continued to work when the coronavirus pandemic was at its height. The move comes after Amazon allowed temporary measures such as hazard pay and double overtime pay to expire in June. Some workers said it was too soon to eliminate these measures, while Amazon insisted that the raises were meant to help cope with increased online demand, which has since subsided.
Tensions have been growing between Amazon and warehouse workers nationwide, with employees claiming the company hasn’t done enough to protect them from the coronavirus.
