Amazon Defends Its Controversial Facial Recognition Technology
Amazon pushed back against complaints about its facial recognition technology, Rekognition. Complaints have come from investors, researchers, and even nuns. But Amazon said the technology could be beneficial to law enforcement. Still, Amazon acknowledged such technology should be regulated.
In a blog post Thursday, Amazon Web Services’ vice president of global public policy Michael Punke, defended Rekognition, which the company has offered since 2016.
