Amazon Adds Free Grocery Delivery to Prime Benefits
Amazon originally charged Prime members an additional $15 a month, or $180 a year, for grocery delivery through Amazon Fresh. But as the online grocery wars heat up, the e-commerce giant is nixing the fee, making free grocery delivery a built-in perk of Prime membership. The announcement comes just a couple months after Walmart debuted its unlimited grocery delivery service, available for a $98 annual fee.
“I’ve been working in grocery delivery a long time, and I think this offering is truly a game-changer,” said Stephenie Landry, Amazon’s vice president of grocery delivery, in an interview with GeekWire. She predicted that free Amazon Fresh grocery delivery will become “one of the most loved benefits of Prime.”
